So, let’s move on to the process of downgrading your Droid 2 to the official firmware also known as Stock ROM.

  1. First Ensure, that your Motorola Droid 2 is running the firmware 2.3.20 version. If you’re running on some new version then you need to downgrade to the official version in order to root your mobile phone. If the mobile phone is not downgraded then follow the mentioned steps given below.
  2. You need to download tools named RSD Lite Tool, Motorola Drivers (32 bit or 64 bit) and the Motorola Droid Stock Firmware from the links given to your computer.
  3. After the download is complete, install the RSD lite tool we downloaded earlier and after the installation is complete install the Motorola drivers on your computer.
  4. Now, Turn off your mobile phone in order to start it in the “boot loader mode” after that, connect the mobile phone to your computer using the original USB cable.
  5. Press “Up Arrow + Power” buttons together in order to start your Droid 2 in “boot loader mode”.
  6. Now, the boot loader will open. In that windows click on “…” button which is located next to the file name box and after that select the 2.3.20 firmware .sbf file. Once you’ve selected the file, click on Start and the process will start (the process can take upto 20 minutes, so stay calm and keep on watching).
  7. Now, the device is flashed, pull the battery now and power back while holding the X button, and once you see the Android warning sign, press the “search button” from your Droid 2 keyboard.
  8. Device is now running on the factory recovery image with the helps of the arrow keys, press the camera button or OK on the keyboard.
  9. After this select options “Wipe data/factory reset” and “Reboot System”.
